Spent this evening at the band banquet, where Cassidy was awarded with a plaque for Outstanding High Brass Player for 6th grade. She plays trumpet, although she'll be trading that in next week and moving up to french horn. I'm just amazed at her musical skills; I love music, and I can pick out little bits and pieces of things on the piano (Heart & Soul, the first few notes of Fur Elise, things that people have shown me), and I used to be able to play the first part of Pearl Jam's "Alive" on the guitar. However, I can't read music, and I'm afraid I'm sort of tone deaf...Cass, though, has learned soooo much this year; she's been First Chair in Trumpet all year long, through seven or eight different chair placement tests.
In other news...in just two days, I will be the ecstatic new owner of this:
I'm still in shock about it. I'm not a gadget girl at all -- the cell phone I've had is two or three years old, and the one I had before that was four or five years old. Anyway, I've been eligible for a phone upgrade for about six months now, and I've been really intrigued with the touchscreen smartphones out there. We did some looking around, and it turned out that upgrading to the iPhone was actually not much more expensive than upgrading to just a regular phone, based on a couple of deals we were able to find. So now, thanks to free 2-day priority shipping, my new iPhone will be in my hands by Friday.
Of course, now I'm looking at all the ways I can personalize it; I really think I want to get a skin for it. I've narrowed down my choices to these six, but I'm having a super hard time deciding. I'd love it if you'd let me know which one you like best:

I like option 1, 2 and 4. But option 4 'bookshelf' I like the most for the colors.

Congrats to your daughter! I like number 1, 4 and 6 the best. I love books, so 4 has the edge, but 1 is a close second. LOL Am I helping at all? LOL

I'm due for an upgrade on my phone as well and I'm looking into the iphone ... but I hear the fees are pretty high? Ugh. I hate decisions like this. Inevitably, I always make the wrong one.

I think the bookshelf suits you the best, even though the Kathy Olivas one is really cool. She is one of my favorite artists. Oliver and Eric got me an ipod touch for Mother's Day. I didn't know they made little skins like this though. Me likey.

You are going to love it, some of my kids have them and they use them soooo much! And their little kids want to play with them all the time! I vote for 1 or 3 but all are pretty cool.
