1. PJ20. Wow. It's hard to believe I've been a Pearl Jam fan for 20 years. I remember when Ten was released; my best friend Jason and I listened to it nonstop. It was the first music that felt like MY music; prior to that, much of what I listened to was my dad's music. I've always been more of a Pearl Jam fan than a Nirvana fan too -- not sure what that says about me, but I've always just been sort of "eh" when it comes to Nirvana (with the exception of the MTV Unplugged session they did...LOVE it!) I'm thrilled that Cameron Crowe (another of my favorites) made the documentary, and I'm beyond thrilled that the soundtrack includes a cover of my favorite Mother Love Bone song ("Crown of Thorns"), as well as "Just Breathe."
2. New scents from Flourish Bath & Body. I'm a huge fan of her Woodsmoke & Vanilla scent; I use it all winter long, and Saltwater is my summer go-to. Two new ones that I'd like to get my hands on are Orchard and Viking.
3. I've got several fall photo shoots with some families that I just adore coming up. I always love this chance to get to visit with them again, to see how their families have grown and changed over the past year, and to capture their lives on film once more. It doesn't hurt that they are all amazingly photogenic either, which makes me so excited to see the final results.
4. I love that I'm designing again. Right now, the ideas seem to be coming with ease, so it's easy to say that. It's been good that I've been able to work on some products in advance and then stagger the release date on them -- that definitely helps with the dry spells. Of course, I'm always looking for suggestions so if there are products that you'd like to see, let me know, ok?
5. iShot That at www.reneepearson.com It's no secret that I love using my iPhone for pictures, and both my Instagram and Hipstamatic apps get a serious workout every week. I'm looking forward to learning more tips for phone photography and editing with this class.
6. Hot chocolate season is upon us. I have only, within the past year or so, become a fan of hot chocolate. I've never cared much for hot drinks, but then I ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream somewhere -- some coffee shop or something -- and the combination of lovely fall/winter weather, aisles of books, and a sinfully rich warm drink swirled together in my mind into such a wonderful experience that I fell in love.
7. The beginning of a new series from Emily Martin? I love the vintage feel of her paintings, and each collection is full of such incredible attention to detail. Cami has a couple of her prints hanging in her room -- they are just perfect for my nature-and-fairy-tale-loving little girlie -- and we're both super excited about her new book!
8. This is my favorite time of year for work-related travel. Not travel to big cities for conferences or anything like that -- just daily travel to and from the schools I work with. That travel takes me through the Land Between the Lakes national recreation area, which is simply beautiful in the fall.
9. Next week is Fall Break. Cass will be leaving on Tuesday to go to Gatlinburg with one of her best friends, so Cami and I will be hanging out at home. It's also District Tournament time for soccer, so we've got a week's worth of serious soccer competition to check out as well.
10. a new knitting project. I still have two smaller projects from last season to finish up, but as soon as those are completed, I'm going to cast on for something for myself -- finally, after three years of knitting, I'm going to make something for me! I love this hooded scarf; the grey is beautiful, but I'm thinking of going with a mustardy yellow or a deep orange. I've got a navy peacoat that I'll be wearing it with, so I think both of those choices will look great.
