I was thrilled when Jan and Meredith approached me about filling in for the August slot at Songbird Avenue. I've long been an admirer of both designers, and I've been longing for a chance to work with Songbird Avenue, so I was really excited when this opportunity came up. With August heralding the arrival of school and my own love for writing, this theme and color palette came together pretty quickly.
I chose the charity 826 National because of my own background as an English teacher, and because I've been able to see the amazing work done at 826 Valencia while I was in San Francisco a couple years ago. It's such a vibrant, incredible charity and the students benefit from it in such wonderful ways, so I thought it would be the perfect pairing for this kit.
