Before I get to this week's challenge, I want to announce the winner of the autographed copy of It's Kind of a Funny Story:
Tamara, if you read this before I get a chance to email you, just send me your mailing address and I'll get your copy of the book sent out to you asap! :)
I'd like your opinions, as well, on an issue. I'm considering opening an Etsy shop full of various items..."aud" stuff, if you will ;), and I'm considering putting my digital kits and such in there. Would you purchase digital kits from an Etsy shop, or do you think that would be a hassle? I'd love to hear your opinions.
Now...on to this week's challenge!
This week is a simple but fun one: Create an embellishment filled with text. There are so many creative ways to do this. Let's take a look at what our featured artists did this week.
Amy created a gorgeous soft layout, featuring a mix of textures and techniques. Amy does a lot of hybrid work, and I'm always so impressed with her workflow, mainly because she works in the exact opposite way I do. Most of her layouts are done on paper first, and then she scans them and adds digital elements to the scanned image.
Pamela created a hybrid layout as well. She printed out several sheets of digital papers and then layered them to create soft ruffles. She filled the butterfly shapes with her own handwriting, a fun way to add visual interest and still maintain plenty of room in which to tell your stories.
Ready to play along? To participate this week, just do the following:
1. Create a layout featuring elements filled with text.
2. Post your layout in a gallery or on your blog.
3. Leave a comment on this thread, linking to your layout.
Layouts are due by midnight EST, Friday, September 4th, 2009.

What a fantastic way to create some kind of oneness with students. As and educator this seems like a fabulous idea. I will think how to adapt it to younger students I think.
